FLMI Recognition and Privileges

FLMI Digital Certificate

FLMI Level 1 Certificate

Holders of the FLMI Level 1 Certificate are considered to have completed the entry-level courses for the Associate, Life and Health Claims (ALHC) program from the International Claim Association, specifically LOMA 281 and LOMA 291.

Exemptions for FLMI Holders

Those who possess the FLMI designation are exempt from taking the following papers in the Hong Kong Insurance Intermediaries Qualifying Examination (IIQE):

  • Insurance Principles and Practice (Paper 1)

  • General Insurance (Paper 2)

  • Long-term Insurance (Paper 3)

  • Travel Insurance Agent Paper

Personal Licensee Application

For personal licensee applications, candidates may be exempt from the minimum educational requirements if they have achieved:

  • A passing grade of E or above in five subjects, including one language and mathematics in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or

  • A minimum of Level 2 in five subjects, including one language and mathematics in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE).

(Note: The current three-year grace period for personal licensees will end on September 22, 2022.)

Recognitions

The FLMI qualification is recognized by:

  • The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) as a Senior Associate CIP (Certified Insurance Professional).

  • The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) in the UK, which grants exemptions for certain credits.

Most insurance companies in Hong Kong allow employees to print their FLMI qualifications on business cards, enhancing client confidence in their professionalism. For more details, please consult the relevant department within your insurance company.
